1. AGM & Dinner Talk – 11 December 2018

The 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Foundation was held on 11 December (Tuesday). The Meeting approved the audited accounts and the Executive Committee (EXCO) Report, and appointed the following new EXCO members for the term of 2019 & 2020.

After the AGM, we were honoured to have Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as the Guest Speaker, to deliver a speech on “The Power of Regenerative Medicine to Restore Health and Quality of Life”. Professor Tuan’s inspiring presentation was well-received and members enthusiastically participated the Q&A Session conducted by Mr. Man Cheuk Fei, EXCO member.

2. “Welcoming Gathering for Teachers” – 8 & 15 November 2018

The “Welcoming Gathering for Teachers” were held on 8 & 15 November by the Foundation at HKUGA Primary School and HKUGA College respectively. Both events provided opportunities for EXCO members and IMC managers to meet and share with the teachers.

3. Visit to T-Park – 27 October 2018

T-Park, an intergrated sludge treatment facility, environmental education centre and leisure facility, attracted 40 EF members and friends to visit, allowing participants to know how to turn “waste-to-energy”.

4. Guangzhou Historical, Cultural and Culinary Tour – 8 & 9 September 2018

24 EF members and friends joined a 2-day Guangzhou Historical, Cultural and Culinary Tour in early September. Apart from tasting delicious food in Guangzhou, they also went to the Guangdong Performing Arts Center Theater to enjoy Broadway musicals and visited various historic places such as Sacred Heart Cathedral, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Shamian and Guangdong Museum. Participants experienced the modern situation of Guangzhou under the cultural blending experience and the innovation and development of Guangzhou under the evolution.

5. HKUGA College: Philosophical Inquiry (PI) Training – 6 to 12 September 2018

Dr. Vanya Kovach, a PI consultant from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, conducted training for teachers at the College. Our Foundation members including Mr. CM Mak and Mr. Leung Shiu Keung also participated in some workshops.

6. Joint Schools Staff Professional Training – 27 August 2018

Joint schools staff professional sharing and workshop was held in August. Parallel sessions to share Positive Education (PosEd) and PI were conducted by teachers of College and Primary School. Professor Lam Shui Fong of the Department of Psychology, HKU, was also invited as the guest speaker to introduce the practice and effectiveness of “Mindfulness” to teachers of two schools.

Apart from teachers, our Foundation members including Mrs. Annie Chu, Dr. Brenda Lo, Dr. Lai Kwok Chan and Ms. Lee Oi Lin also attended the workshop.

7. 2018/19 Life & Career Education Mentorship Project

This is the 7th year when EF organized the Life & Career Education Mentorship Project (“LEAP”) for S4 and S5 students, aiming at facilitating students to understand better the appropriate attitudes and ethics needed in the work place, workplace culture, and preparing themselves for future career development.

A 3-hour Briefing Session conducted by Ms. Vivien Pau, a professional leadership coach, and Mrs. Nancy Chan, Deputy Convenor of LEAP, for mentors and teachers respectively on 10 November so as to let them have a better understanding of the project objectives and approach.
