Life & Career Education Forum 2017

Co-organized with the Education Bureau, EF’s third Life & Career Education Forum (“LCE forum”) for Principals, teachers, parents and students of secondary schools was held on 29 April, 2017. The Forum aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of the development in career education and guidance, enriching their knowledge in career opportunities and the requirements of employers, to better prepare their students to make study or career decisions.

The Education Bureau supported us to send invitations to all secondary schools. 26 schools enrolled and after careful deliberation with the Education Bureau, a total of 145 Principals, teachers, parents and students were invited to attend the LCE forum.

This year, the corporation representatives are mainly Human Resources professionals and they come from the following corporations:

Adbrownies Advertising and Canvas Digital
Airport Authority Hong Kong
CLP Power Hong Kong Limited
HAECO Hong Kong
Haven of Hope Christian Service
Holiday Inn Golden Mile
Morning Star Travel Service Limited
Sun Hing Logistics Holdings Co Limited

The Forum then proceeded to a Sharing Session by the participating corporations who each gave a brief introduction of the possible work opportunities for young people in their respective industry/corporation.

The second part of the Forum was divided into 2 sessions. Participants were invited to join 2 different workshops conducted by the corporations in separate classrooms. The workshops certainly enriched participants’ knowledge about different careers’ entry requirements via indepth discussion with the corporation representatives.

The Forum was very well-received and the feedback by the participants was positive.

The workplace visits were then held between May and July for Principals, teachers, parents and students to facilitate first-hand understanding of the real working environment and business operations to be gained.

The Foundation would like to express our deep gratitude to the support rendered by the corporations and the participants.
